Brazilian Cherry Hardwood Flooring

Because of its deep red and salmon colored hues, it is considered a luxurious style of hardwood flooring. Brazilian cherry wood remains an attractive hardwood flooring choice for both modern and traditional homes, because of the beautiful streaks of its dark, almost scarlet color strips.

It technically a member of one of the legume family Hymenaea courbaril, otherwise known as a courbaril, locust, or Jatoba tree. The name was marketed as Brazilian Cherry due to the close resemblance to domestic Cherry wood when first installed. The trees are found in both Brazil and other parts of South America.

Benefits of Brazilian Cherry Hardwood Flooring

The high hardness of Brazilian Cherry makes it a great option for a busy and active home. But because of its high density, it can be reasonably challenging to install for a non-professional. However, there are engineered wood varieties available, which are more accessible options for the DIY types capable of floating or nail down installation.
